Future Cars

Since cars were invented, people always wondered about future cars. What will cars be like in the next 10, 20 or 30 years. Cars of the future will probably be self-driving. Future cars will be designed to prevent accidents and injuries to the occupants. Future cars will probably be designed to get the most bang for their bucks when it comes to fuel efficiency. Will future cars have problems, of course they will. The early future cars will have issues that will need to be worked-out as newer versions get released over time. Check out this video from WatchMojo.com showing the Top 10 Car Industry Innovations Coming in the Next 10 Years. How will we as automobile consumers adapt to these new cars with these innovations? Will we accept them or will we try to drive our older cars for as long as we can? Here are some issues to think about on these future cars and on cars that are being released today. Are we ok with cars driving us around, or will we fight for the right to steer our own cars? Also, if cars drive themselves and the actions of the computer driver are tracked by another driver, do we need Auto Claims Adjusters anymore? If we don’t need Auto Claims Adjusters because the car will tell us who did something wrong to cause the accident, will the number of personal injury attorneys decrease? Will no drivers, no Auto Claims Adjusters and not as many injury attorneys mean that there will be a lot of people on the Unemployment line? Will automobile owners be more susceptible to attacks by hackers?  Check out this video of how hackers can hack into newer cars. Well I still think these cars are cool and if the problems could be worked out then they could make driving a lot safer. So now some more videos of future cars. mrhelper@bestcarwreckinfo.com bestcarwreckinfo.com Promote Your Page Too

DDI, driving on the left side of the road, legally.

wrong-way
Driving on the left side of the road

Driving on the left side of the road, in the USA?! Now you have to when you drive through a new DDI. Recently, at a major interchange in Colorado Springs, Colorado, the old freeway bridge over the interstate was demolished, and replaced with two bridges for Fillmore Road, in what is called a diverging diamond interchange (DDI). Apparently a DDI is a safer way for the traffic on the non-freeway road to go over the freeway. It does involve driving on the left side of the road. While you are only driving on the left side of the road for a short time, this is a major mindset change for anyone who has been driving in the United States. We just don’t drive on the left side of the road in the US. I have never driven on the left side of the road in this country before this new intersection forced me to drive on what Americans would call “the wrong side of the road.”

Right now this DDI is still under construction as it is close to completion. However the new traffic pattern has been set, the roadway is open, and people have been driving on the left side of this road over the new bridges for several weeks now. According to www.divergingdiamondinterchange.org, a DDI creates an efficient traffic pattern method by eliminating the need for left turn arrows, which is supposed to lead to less congestion in the area. I can understand this because one of the most common types of accidents is when a driver fails to yield the right of way to oncoming traffic while turning left. I just thought it was weird to see the cars going the wrong direction on the bridges as I was passing under them on the interstate. I was not able to find out how many of DDIs currently exist in the US, but it seems that we will see more as the years go on and old, outdated highway overpass bridges get replaced. These intersections are clearly marked and set up in a way to prevent you from driving into oncoming traffic. If anything though, I think this is major reason to not drive distracted or impaired, since you don’t know when you’ll go from driving on the right side of the road, to driving on the left side of the road at a DDIs. So please keep your eyes on the road, both sides of it!

No winter coats while in a car seat

poofy jacket
child’s winter coat

You should not have your children wearing their winter coats while they are occupying their car seats.
I’ve been meaning to do this post for a few months now, but I keep forgetting to do it. I blame the state of Colorado, and its mild winters. I have not had to put my son’s poofy winter coat on before going outside that often this winter. However even though Colorado has mild winters, yesterday Colorado was having some “lousy Smarch weather.” That is a joke from “The Simpsons” tv show. Check out this clip.

So the snowy conditions and cold weather that we had yesterday jogged my memory, and I decided to post this now.

Please watch this video below showing car seat crash tests done with small dummies wearing winter coats.

The straps do not have a tight fit against the poofy and slick winter jacket, making it possible for children to fly out of the car seat when the car impacts another car in an accident. It is better to be safe than sorry, but your child has to stay warm and healthy while riding in your vehicle. I suggest that you have a good heater in your car, and allow more time to get to your destination. Then you can let the vehicle warm-up a little before heading out on your trip. That way not having a jacket on is not a problem for you or your child because you’ll both be cozy. You can leave a blanket in the car for your child. I actually use my son’s winter coat as a blanket for him while his is in the car seat and put it over his lap to keep him warm. Then when we get to our destination, I put the coat on him. If you celebrate Easter, then have a safe and Happy Easter in a few weeks!
If you do not celebrate Easter, I still wish safe travels for you. There will be increase in traffic due to people traveling for the holiday. So be mindful, and take care of yourselves!

Ticketed for running a stop sign in a Facebook video

Be careful when posting your dash cam video to Facebook.

Check out this video. Um, yeah, it is my opinion that he clearly ran that stop sign.

Whether you feel the issuing of the ticket after the fact was right or wrong, you should always be careful on what you post on to social media. When you post your actions on social media or the Internet, it can be used against you just as if you committed the actions in the general public. Only now they can just hit replay on your Facebook video over and over, for as many times as the jury needs to see it in order to come to a final ruling.

I knew someone that was seen making an illegal left turn by an off-duty police officer, and had the ticket mailed to her house. Also, I have heard other stories about off-duty police officers who see someone committing  a traffic violation, writing down that offender’s license plate number, and going to their house to give them the ticket when they go back on-duty. Whether you think that is right or wrong, it happens and it’s perfectly legal.

So what’s the difference between those stories and this Facebook video? The difference is that the person that posted this video should have thought “oh, I’m running a stop sign in this clip. I’d better not post this.” This person sealed his own fate when he posted that video to Facebook.

It goes to show you that you never know who is watching you when you are driving, or the clips that you choose to post to Facebook. So it is better to just obey the traffic laws whether you have a dash cam or not. Then you will never have to worry about getting a ticket days after you violated the traffic laws.

I am worried that this story might turn people off to wanting to have a dash cam. I have thought if I get in a car accident, and my dash cam shows that I am at fault, that maybe it can be subpoenaed and used against me in a lawsuit. Perhaps. However, I feel that the benefit of having the dash cam to protect you from other drivers violating the law, or worse, fleeing the scene of an accident, far outweigh the small risk of the dash cam being used against you by anyone. Especially if you drive cautiously and follow the law. I do not worry about my driving or my friends/family members’ driving, I worry about the other guy’s driving. That unknown factor is what makes that dash cam so useful. You don’t have to worry about the other person making up lies about how the accident happened, because you’ll have the visual proof.

So just make sure if you are recording your driving that you are driving as perfect as you possibly can, so no one can say anything to you about it. Click on this link to see a dash cam that goes for less than $60:

Ski Discount with Gas Purchase

28435546-jacksonville-fl-may-16-2014-a-shell-gas-station-in-early-morning-in-jacksonville-according-to-forbes

You have to buy gas for your car, so why not get a little something extra out of it? Like a ski discount.

Exxon, Mobil and Shell Gas Stations offer a ski discount that lets you get a buy one get one free lift ticket voucher at ski resorts in Colorado and Michigan, when you buy at least 10 gallons of gas. There are four participating ski resorts in Colorado for this deal: Copper Mountain, Crested Butte, Monarch, Powderhorn and Sunlight. You can find more info on this website, http://skifreedeals.com/. I am not an affiliate marketer for Exxon, Mobil or Shell, but I was thinking about this discount recently, and confirmed they are still doing it in Colorado for 2017 at participating fuel station locations, which you can also find on the above-mentioned site.

I live in Colorado, and I have been collecting these vouchers every winter for so many years. I don’t go skiing very often, so every April, I end up throwing about 10 of these in the trash after they expire. The disappointing fact is that the number of participating resorts in Colorado has decreased over the years, and I don’t particularly enjoying paying over $100+ per lift ticket per person when I go skiing. I know what you are going to say next, “just get a season pass.” I just don’t get out to the mountains enough to justify buying a season pass. So this is a good deal, and I enjoy all of these participating resorts. I love living in Colorado, and I encourage anyone to visit any one of these resorts whether you ski or snowboard. Hopefully, you can save a little money at the resort when you fill up your gas tank before driving there. It seems like Colorado is the only state left participating in this deal, so enjoy it while you can.
Thanks for reading this post!
